The Alton Educational Foundation, AEF, raises funds for innovative projects throughout the Alton School District. These funds are used to provide enhanced educational opportunities, supports academic excellence, and encourage student achievement.

Currently, the Alton Educational Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of eleven local advocates for public education, including business owners, parents, teachers, retired educators, and district representatives. Over the past twenty years, volunteers have launched numerous fundraising efforts, including Redbird Raffles and memorial brick sales, and bench sales.

Alton Exchange Mall has over 16,000 square feet! With over 100 booths, our merchandise is always changing. We promise an enjoyable shopping experience.

We share the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing with the Riverbend area.

Originally founded in 1933, the Alton Little Theater is in its 89th consecutive season (2022-2023). ALT is the longest-running community theater in the state of Illinois. With more than 500 productions to date, ALT is a vital resource for theater arts and entertainment and takes pride in community partnerships and collaborations with other arts organizations that enrich the lives of those residing in the greater Riverbend area. 


Alton Main Street’s mission is to engage our community in the continued renewal of our historic downtown district and Mississippi River heritage by cultivating an attractive center of economic and social activity.

Since 1994, Alton Main Street has led volunteer efforts to transform Alton’s Downtown district into a thriving commercial and residential center. Educating citizens about the benefits of historic preservation through public engagement is central to Alton Main Street’s purpose. The organization fosters an appreciation of our community’s history by coordinating social, economic and beautification activities.

Serving the scrap metal recycling needs of Alton, Belleville, and St. Louis, Alton Materials is a one-stop shop for ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycling in Illinois and the Metro East. Featuring friendly customer service, transparent pricing, and a scrap metal management program for our commercial and industrial customers that is second-to-none, our Alton location is ready to assist with the recycling needs of everyone looking to receive the most value for their materials.

In business since 1945, we have been serving the river bend area and beyond. We are a family run business that focuses on only one thing, designing the most fitting tribute to your loved one. We offer new monument sales, old foundation repair, vase repair, brick fundraising projects and so much more.

In 2005, the company was purchased by the Philip W. Weiss family. The Weiss family has been in the monument business since October of 1933. We strive to make each monument special to the person it is memorializing. Please contact us to help you memorialize your loved one.

Alton's newest affordable, family-friendly, entertainment experience debuted in the Summer of 2021. Games are played at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, IL.

Alton Steel operates a 200 ton electric arc furnace and a 14? bar mill. We have the capacity to melt 750,000 tons of steel in the melt shop a year and to roll 400,000 tons of steel bars in our 14? rolling mill.


RBGA Small Business of the Month - October 2022

Altonized Community Federal Credit Union strives to deliver the best service possible to our most important asset – our members. The credit union was started to serve Owens-Illinois in Alton along with immediate family members and any businesses they owned. Over the past 75 years, the field of membership has grown and will hopefully continue to do so in the future.  On April 9, 2003, the credit union was granted a Community Charter to serve all of Madison County, Illinois. On September 7, 2017, the credit union was granted a community charter to serve all of Macoupin County, Illinois.    

Eligibility Requirements are:  

  • Anyone living, working, worshipping or attending school in Madison and Macoupin County      
  • Any business or legal entity in Madison and Macoupin County      
  • Anyone who volunteers in Madison and Macoupin County      
  • Immediate family and household of current members      
  • Any organization of family and household
