The Friends of the Ramona Library support the Ramona Community Library by encouraging literacy, lifelong learning, and the love of reading throughout our diverse community; enhancing the Library's resources, and increasng the community's access to information and knowledge; and providing a vibrant cultural place to gather. We support library programs, acquisitions, and equipment.
The Friends of the Ramona Library have sponsored many library programs, such as the Summer Reading program, Family Storytime, bilingual story time, and teen gaming. We also sponsor music lessons by Jon Hasz for various age groups and a really fun ukulele program for children, teens, and adults. We've put on author talks by Union Tribune columnist Richard Lederer and author Lisa Belkin. In addition, with grant support from the Ramona Community Foundation and the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet (RFCC), we were able to purchase four AWE computers to enrich early childhood literacy. And last year, we were able to offer seven Ramona area high school students scholarships for college.
Our major fundraiser is our bookstore, the Open Book, where we sell used donated books and conduct a weekly auction. We also have a bookstore on Amazon.com. We support library programs, acquisitions, and equipment. All programs are offered at no cost due to our fundraising efforts.
