Plans for a Veterans Memory Park to be built at Ridgeland's new City Center Complex are moving forward as the committee seeks support from the community as well as corporate sponsors. The park was envisioned by the late General Tom Logue and will include benches and plaques commemorating the six branches of military service. It will also feature a central walkway, walk of heroes, a flagpole and a 7-foot bell tower. The Veterans Memory Park will be funded by private donations from the community. A committee has been established, chaired by Public Works Director Mike McCollum to raise needed funds for this beautiful memorial. If you wish to donate to the Veterans Memory Park, there are several ways to do so including the purchase of: · A 4” x 8” engraved brick paver for $200. This brick will include the name of the individual honored; Rank and Branch of Service. · An 8” x 8” engraved brick paver for $500 that would include name of the individual, Rank, Branch of Service, Conflict, Dates of Service and Hometown or Highest Medal awarded. · A Brass Plaque mounted on concrete paver for $5,000. · A Brass Plaque mounted on a memorial bench - $10,000. · The Engraved Plaque at the Bell Tower - $50,000. Donations should be made payable to the Veterans Memory Park and sent to City of Ridgeland, P. O. Box 217, Ridgeland, MS 39158. Donations are tax deductible.
