Officers of the 2020-2021 MHA Board of Trustees include Edwin Ness, chair; Tina Freese Decker, chair-elect; and T. Anthony Denton, treasurer. The board directs the greater Lansing-based association’s statewide representation of hospitals and healthcare providers.
Ness, president and CEO, Munson Healthcare, Traverse City, will serve as chairman during the association’s 2020-2021 program year beginning July 1. The terms of service of Freese Decker, president and CEO, Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids; and Denton, senior vice president and chief operating officer, University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Ann Arbor, will also span the 2020-2021 program year. John Fox, president, Beaumont Health, Southfield, will serve as immediate past chairman.
James Dover, president and CEO, Sparrow Health System, Lansing; Julie Yaroch, DO, president, Promedica Bixby Hospital, Adrian, and ProMedica Herrick Hospital, Temcumseh; and Audrey Gregory, PhD, Group CEO, Detroit Medical Center, were appointed as trustees at-large for two-year terms. Kenneth Berkovitz, MD, senior vice president, Ascension, and ministry market executive, Ascension Michigan; and Shannon Striebich, president, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, Pontiac, were appointed as trustees at-large for one-year terms.
Reappointed for three-year terms on the 2020-2021 MHA Board of Trustees as trustees at-large were Mark Eastburg, PhD, president and CEO, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, Grand Rapids; and Shelleye Yaklin, president and CEO, North Ottawa Community Health System, Grand Haven. Reappointed to one-year terms as trustees at-large were James “Chip” Falahee Jr., senior vice president, legal & legislative affairs, Bronson Healthcare Group, Kalamazoo; and David Jahn, president & CEO, War Memorial Hospital, Sault St. Marie.
Continuing to serve their current terms of service as trustees at-large are Daniel Babcock, CEO, Marlette Regional Hospital; Edward Bruff, president and CEO, Covenant HealthCare, Saginaw; Karen Cheeseman, CEO, Mackinac Straits Health System, St. Ignace; Timothy Johnson, president and CEO, Eaton Rapids Medical Center; Gregory R. Lane, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, McLaren Health Care, Grand Blanc; Diane Postler-Slattery, PhD, president and CEO, MidMichigan Health, Midland; and Robert Riney, president, healthcare operations, and chief operating officer, Henry Ford Health System, Detroit. In addition, Brian Peters was reappointed to serve an indefinite term of office as CEO of the association. Based in greater Lansing, the MHA advocates in Michigan and Washington, DC, on behalf of healthcare providers and the communities and patients they serve.
