WORKING CONDITIONS: Full time position, 40 hrs/wk. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include
evenings and weekends, in addition up to two weeks of “Mandatory New Hire Orientation &
Training” located at the Administrative Offices in Norman.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes and manages the activities, staff and services of the Shawnee Public Library; provides outstanding and high-level
customer service to all customers; working knowledge in the operation of computers and standard office software products.
Works under the direction of the Shawnee Branch Manager; performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education and/or experience:
a. Bachelor’s degree required;
b. MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited college or university preferred;
c. Three years relevant library or related experience;
d. Three years supervisory experience preferred;
e. Equivalent combination of technical training, education, and/or experience may be considered;
f. Valid driver’s license.
2. Knowledge, skills and abilities:
a. Understands and performs basic functions and tasks of common software programs and email applications;
b. Uses and helps others use basic computer hardware;
c. Handles details and functions of public services operations at the branch, including but not limited to compliance,
business records, training schedules, and other branch requirements;
d. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures for public library service and the ability to interpret them to the
staff and public;
e. Skills in working with the public, public speaking and conducting effective library programs;
f. Strong skills in written and spoken business communications;
g. Ability to gain thorough knowledge of Pioneer Library System policies and procedures;
h. Working knowledge in the operation of computers, office machines and standard office software products; electronic
resources, internet and database retrieval;
i. Lift up to 25 lbs; ability to retrieve and replace items from floor level to at least 5 1/2 feet in height;
j. Work a flexible schedule which will include evenings and weekends based on fluctuating branch/department demands.
