Pine Center for the Arts Gallery Opening

Broc Allen, a talented wood-fired ceramic artist from the north woods of Wisconsin, has been making waves both locally and internationally. Firing a remarkable 500 cubic foot anagama kiln that he built 17 years ago, his intricate process involves marathon firings lasting 100-120 hours and consuming around 16 cords of firewood.

Recently, Broc has traveled to countries such as Russia, China, Japan, France, Latvia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Estonia, participating in symposiums and exchanging ideas with prominent artists worldwide. He has shared his expertise through numerous presentations on wood-fired ceramics and the significant Asian influence on American studio ceramics post-1950, as well as discussing the impactful works of Peter Volkous, Don Reitz, and Paul Soldner.

“Woodfired Ceramics”opens on Friday, June 7. The public is invited to an artists’ reception from 4-7pm on Friday, June 7. Wine, beer and light appetizers will be served. The gallery will continue throughout the month of June. Regular gallery hours are 10 am-5 pm, Thursday-Saturday and Sunday 11 am-5 pm. The gallery is free and open to the public.
