Historian Eric Fogg to present The Merci Train Comes to Iowa

Boone, IA - Railroad Historian and Speaker, Eric Fogg, will present a free program at the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum (Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad) 225 10th. St. Boone, IA. The “Merci Train” Comes to Iowa  - Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2 pm. His program will be “live” and with ZOOM.

Eric Fogg spent his college summers working on a Class I railroad and he’s been a rail-fan ever since. To prove the point, this spring he met his years-long challenge of riding a train in all 50 states. A retired marketing and public relations executive, nowadays you can find him volunteering at the B&SVRR. Eric explores the little known story behind the French Gratitude Train. What’s come to be known as the “Merci Train”, it’s an example of everyday people taking time and making the effort to help one another. Whatever happened to the train and those 49 box cars that are now 80 years old? Join us on March 8th at 2 pm at the museum or also on ZOOM to find out.
