The Wicomico County Public School System (WCPS) is a comprehensive, Prekindergarten-Grade 12 school system located in Wicomico County. The school system serves the educational needs of the community and at the same time serves as an economic engine. WCPS is the third-largest employer in the county.

WCPS has approximately 15,200 students in 25 schools: 16 elementary, 1 elementary/middle, 3 middle, 1 middle/high, 3 high schools, and 1 Evening High School. Special programs include the TAD (Thinking and Doing) program for talented and gifted students in grades 3-8; the elementary Magnet program (grades 3-5) for high performing learners; NexGen STEM Academy and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) initiatives; Career & Technical Education; JROTC; and the Visual and Performing Arts program. The school system is guided by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah C. Stauffer and a seven-member elected Board of Education.

The Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children identifies priorities and target resources for our local community. The major focus is to increase local authority to plan, implement, and monitor children and family services.  We serve as the coordinator of collaboration for child and family services. We bring together local child-serving agencies, local child providers, clients of services, families, and other community representatives to empower local stakeholders in addressing the needs of and setting priorities for our community.

Wicomico County Public Library is an inclusive, welcoming community resource that strives to meet the diverse needs of all Wicomico County citizens.

We provide a variety of resources to Wicomico County residents, including loaning books, DVDs, audiobooks and video games. We offer a variety of online resources including digital book collections which are accessible from our website. We offer meeting room space, WiFi, faxing, printing, scanning, notary service and passport services. Additionally, we offer a Homework Help Center, Job Search Center and Project READ at our Downtown location.
