The Wicomico County Public School System (WCPS) is a comprehensive, Prekindergarten-Grade 12 school system located in Wicomico County. The school system serves the educational needs of the community and at the same time serves as an economic engine. WCPS is the third-largest employer in the county.
WCPS has approximately 15,200 students in 25 schools: 16 elementary, 1 elementary/middle, 3 middle, 1 middle/high, 3 high schools, and 1 Evening High School. Special programs include the TAD (Thinking and Doing) program for talented and gifted students in grades 3-8; the elementary Magnet program (grades 3-5) for high performing learners; NexGen STEM Academy and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) initiatives; Career & Technical Education; JROTC; and the Visual and Performing Arts program. The school system is guided by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah C. Stauffer and a seven-member elected Board of Education.
