The Town Hall was donated to the townspeople of Ramona by Augustus and Martha Barnett on Washington’s Birthday, February 22nd, 1894. It is held in trust in perpetuity by a volunteer five member board of trustees. The Town Hall is not owned by the Board of Trustees, nor is it a public agency. For over 123 years, the Town Hall has operated solely on fundraisers, grant monies, private donations, and rent collected for its use.

The Ramona Woman’s Club has always been the Backbone of the Back Country” as stated by local historian the late Guy B Woodward.

To this end our goal is to cultivate intellectual and civic pursuits. We do this in a number of ways including scholarships to Ramona students, contributions to local nonprofits and participation in service projects such in the Ramona Food & Closet “Sharing Your Christmas”.

Sustainable Ramona is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit corporation organized to foster sustainability in Ramona. The mission of Sustainable Ramona is to lead the transition to a sustainable climate with a healthy economy via education, connections, projects, promotions, and ultimately a profitable, independent electricity-producing area (microgrid).


As of Fall 2023, the group has sponsored educational forums on the San Diego County climate action plan, water conservation, waste management, worm farming, composting, electric houses, and renewable energy along with the two annual Earth Day Festivals and the first annual Harvest Day Festival.
