Dear Readers,
When volunteering at our middle school book fair last year, I noticed many students would run in, grab the newest release, or the next in their favorite series, or the cutest, the scariest or the most colorful book they could find, and then leave it back on the shelf. "How do we get more books into kids' hands?" I asked the librarian. Her face lit up and she said "Do you know what my dream has been? To hold a TRUE book fair for Patton Middle School."
"LET'S DO IT!"I said. I would like to see every kid be able to take home a book, no matter what their financial status is.
For months now, I have been gathering books for this event. Sometimes it's one by one. A friend will hand me a book or I will come across one I can put into the donation box. I have gone to community resource centers and found some too. Now it's time to appeal to the community and our supporters to help us make this project a reality.
Our goal is to hold the TRUE Book Fair this Fall. If you have books to send or have picked up locally, we would be so grateful! Email us for the package mailing address. If you would prefer to visit www.gotlf.org to donate funds towards the project, that works too!
