Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 to Honor All Who Have Served

The City of Troy hosts their annual Troy Veterans Day Ceremony at Troy Veterans Plaza, in front of City Hall (500 W Big Beaver), Friday, November 11 at 11 am to honor and remember the service of all United States Military Veterans.

 

The program will include Raising of Colors, Rifle Salute and Taps by the Troy Police Honor Guard as well as the Laying of the Memorial Wreath at the Veterans Monument.  Music will be provided by the Heritage Concert Band of Troy. 

 

Keynote speaker for the 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony is United States Air Force Master Sergeant Julia L. Nobles, the Traffic Management and Ground Transportation Sections Supervisor assigned to the 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 127th Wing, Selfridge ANGB, Michigan. As a supervisor, Master Sergeant Nobles supports the Selfridge Air National Guard Base, to include the Air National Guard, Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and many tenant units both on and off base. The support she provides ranges from mentoring her subordinates and ensuring the required resources needed are procured. To effectively support the base and all tenant units, Sergeant Nobles works closely with other branches and flights to ensure total mission success. Additionally, Sergeant Nobles coordinates and plans for high profile events, such as distinguished visitors and air shows.

 

Master Sergeant Nobles enlisted in the Air National Guard in October of 2006 and her background includes various duties in the Ground Transportation career field and Traffic Management career field. She currently serves on the Wing Inspection Team, the Airman of the Year Program, the Traffic Safety Group and on the unit’s Booster Club. She has held various extra duty positions at the squadron. She has deployed in support of Freedom Sentinel and has completed various short missions in support of the Michigan State Partnership program with Latvia and around the state of Michigan supporting Army and Air Force deployments.  

 

Prior to assuming her current position, she served as a cargo packer for nine years in the Traffic Management Section within the Logistics Readiness Squadron. 

 

Master Sergeant Nobles has received numerous awards and decorations including Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal – 1 Device, Meritorious Unit Award – 1 Device, AF Outstanding Unit Award, Air Reserve Force Meritorious Service Medal – 5 Devices, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Medal, AF Longevity Service – 3 Devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 1 ‘M’ Device – 1 Device, USAF NCO PME Graduate Ribbon – 1 Device, and AF Training Ribbon; as well as a Michigan Legion of Merit Medal and Michigan Broadsword Service Medal – 3 Devices.

 

Nobles also achieved in 2004 345th Training Squadron, Distinguished Graduate of the Traffic Management Apprentice Course and in 2016 364th Training Squadron, Detachment 1, Distinguished Graduate of the Ground Transportation Apprentice Course.

 

The public is invited to bring individual flowers, bouquets, small flags and other appropriate mementos to be placed on the walk of honor or at the base of the Veterans Memorial in honor of a loved one or all veterans.  For information contact Cindy Stewart at 248.524.1147.
