Swanson Center is pleased to welcome Psychiatrist, Joseph Fanelli, MD, and Nurse Practitoner  Jennifer Jiminez, RN, DNP, FNP-BC,PMHNP-BC, to the staff of our community mental health center. 

Dr. Fanelli completed his Psychiatry at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center Chicago, IL. He earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School at the Rosalind Franklin Unversity of Medicine and Science in Chicago, IL. Dr. Fanelli has a special interest  treating new onset illness and treatment resistent psychiatric illness. He has a diverse background in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including conducting numerous clinical research trials and working with complex, hard to treat cases. He states that he is “looking forward to exending my efforst at treating those who suffer with complex illness to LaPorte County and beyond.”

Jennifer completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Loyola University in Chicago, IL. She earned her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner from Indiana University in South Bend, IN, and her Post-Master’s Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner credential from Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis, IN.

Jennifer is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and has a special interest in treating new onset illness, acute psychiatric illness, and treatment resistent psychiatric illness. She has a diverse background in both family practice and mental health in variety of settings including: Primary care, Correctional settings, Inpatient and Outpatient settings.  Jennifer states she is “excited to be working in her own community” and says “I feel I can make a great impact in changing the face of mental health care in LaPorte County.” Jennifer is passionate about mentoring and training nurse practitioner students and newly graduated nurse practitioners.

Jennifer is also excited about continuing to provide outstanding psychiatric care and leadership for other nurse practitioners alongside her long time collaborative physician, Joseph Fanelli MD. Jennifer and Dr. Fanelli have worked together for the last several years and have made a large impact in the progress of psychiatric care in Nothwest Indiana.
