“LCA is pleased to include fine art made with glass in this exhibition. Glass can be so expressive, and the works we included present a variety of techniques that are being used to create art today,” said LCA executive director, Janet Bloch.

Dick is a glass artist and community builder. She is the artistic director of Firebird Community Arts and co-founder of Project FIRE, a program promoting healing through glassblowing for young people who have been injured by gun violence. She has been working with glass for over 20 years and shows her work around the country. Along with creating artwork speaking to human connection, Dick is a dedicated teacher and activist advocating for greater access, diversity and inclusion in the glass community.

Saunders has been an enthusiastic and vigorous advocate for the Studio Glass Movement. Since 1995, Ken Saunders Gallery has exhibited the most important and innovative artists working with glass in the world. The gallery seeks to foster a new generation of creative makers to expand the boundaries of sculpture and glass working.

In May 2021, the UN General Council declared 2022 as the United Nations International Year of Glass. The year will celebrate the role glass has in society. The goal of the Year is to highlight how glass can aid the development of more just and sustainable societies, recent scientific and technical breakthroughs, glass’ influence on history and art and the role of museums
