Featuring
performances from some of the biggest names in Chicago’s arts and culture
scene, the event will include performances by Chicago Lyric Opera Ryan Center
artist Kimberly Jones and performers known in the Chicagoland arts
community Maia Surace, Cornelius Johnson, Gary Alexander, Paul
Dykstra and Aaron Wardell. The program will include arias from
Carmen, Merry Widow and Don Carlo. Featured is a commemoration of the works of
Stephen Shames which include “West Side Story”, “Les Misérables”, “Company”,”
Into the Woods”, and a “Little Night Music” completing the afternoon “West Side
Story” and “Fiddler on the Roof” will be featured.
“It is a joy
to return to the Symphony Garden venue for the event this year,” said Dr.
Rima Binder, Event Chair and Vice President of the FBG Board.
General
admission is $45, with premium tickets at $50 for seating in the first 6 rows.
Tickets are available for purchase as https://friendshipbotanicgardens.org/event/opera-in-the-gardens-2022/ but will also be
sold at the door the day of the event, cash or card.
Light
appetizers are included with each ticket. A cash/credit card bar with wine and
beer will also be on site. All proceeds contribute to the continued restoration
and maintenance of Friendship Botanic Gardens.
The
performance will begin promptly at 4:00. Arrive using the main Highway
12 entrance at 3:00 p.m. for wine, beer, other beverages and light
appetizers while taking a stroll through the 105-acres of gardens, trails and
meadows.
