Dunes Arts Hosts Broadway Cabaret Concert August 12-13 at Friendship Botanic Gardens
Steve
Scott,
Dunes Artistic Director, is the master of ceremonies, and Andrew
Flasch is musical director
and pianist for the special two-evening event. Flasch will
be joined by
Jake Tillmann on drums and Emily Pyke on bass.
Scott said,
"Audiences will enjoy the musical genius of Steven Sondheim and his
contemporaries
performed by talented artists from Dunes Summer Theatre in the
uniquely
beautiful botanic gardens.”
“Broadway
Cabaret Concert” attendees will enjoy performances of cast members
from
previous Dunes Summer Theatre productions.
Max
DeTogne,
a Chicago-based performance artist, performed in this season’s
“Next to
Normal” and “A Grand Night for Singing” and “Working” (2019).
Emily Franks
performed in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2021), “South Pacific”
(2019) and
“Hansel and Gretel Go Cajun” (2019). She is the 2022 Dunes Company
Manager and
Education Coordinator.
Sierra
Jimenez
is a Southern California native currently pursuing a degree in
musical
theatre at Oklahoma City University. She performed in this season’s “A
Grand Night
for Singing.”
Peter
Stielstra, originally from San Francisco, is a Chicago-based actor who
performed in
this season’s “Next to Normal.”
Philip
Torre
returns to Dunes Summer Theatre after performing in “South Pacific”
(2019). He has
appeared in leading roles with opera companies in the United
States and
abroad, including the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Making their
Dunes Summer Theatre debut are:
Hailey
Brissard,
a rising junior at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of
Performing
Arts.
Kate
Turner,
a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying theatre and
voice.
Gates open
at 5:30 p.m. through the Friendship Botanic Gardens Liberty Trail
entrance. Guests
are allowed to bring picnic baskets and wine. There will be no
on-site food
or beverages for sale. Chairs will be provided, but guests are also
welcome to
bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Prior to the performance,
take an
evening stroll through Friendship Botanic Gardens.
Tickets are
$50/person or $80/couple and are available for purchase

the door the day of the event.
