Reins of Life, Inc. has been operating in South Bend since
1978 and in Michigan City since 2007 with a mission of improving the quality of
life for children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy.
Therapeutic Carriage Driving is one of their newest and fastest-growing
programs. It started in November 2019 with three students, and has increased to
more than ten driving students on a weekly basis, with more students being
added every session. Reins has served over 100 people in this program.
Reins of Life would like to invite the public to their first
Driving Fun Show on Sunday, July 24, at their Michigan City property. Watch
drivers compete in various events, and cheer on some of Reins’ own therapeutic
driving students and volunteers. The show is set up to be welcoming to all
drivers regardless of previous show experience. There will be a licensed judge
and a combination of pleasure and reinsmanship classes. If you own a horse and drive,
please consider entering this low-key show in a variety of classes. Pre-registration
is not required, and entry fees are $5-$7.
Parking and admission are free, and concessions will be
available for $1.
For more details about the show, please visit their website,
reinsoflife.org, or Facebook page, Reins of Life – Therapeutic horseback
riding. The show will continue rain or shine. It will begin at 11 a.m. CST on
July 24 at Reins of Life, 9375 W. 300 N., Michigan City, Indiana.
