Horizon Bank Welcomes John Richards as Successor to Rachel Saxon as President and Senior Trust Officer

President, Chief Commercial Banking Officer is pleased to announce John
Richards has been named as President and Senior Trust Officer of Horizon’s
Trust and Investment Management Department (HTIM).
Richards comes to Horizon with over 30 years of deep
experience in wealth management including trust, investment, brokerage, sales and
private banking. He has worked at several large institutions throughout his
career and is known for his proactive management style while managing teams.
John will be responsible for supervising the wealth management leadership team,
and monitoring risk management activities.
Richards holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Economics from
University of Michigan as well as attended Cannon Trust School, is a Certified
Financial Planner, and has obtained the following licenses: Series 7, 24, 63,
53 life and Disability, Variable Annuity.

Saxon began her banking career with Horizon upon
graduation from Purdue University in 1988 and has served Horizon in the
capacity of Finance Officer, Deposit Operations Officer, Senior Auditor, and
Senior Vice President of Horizon’s Trust and Investment Management Department and
most recently as it’s President.
After 15 years as President and Senior Trust Officer of
Horizon Trust & Investment Management she has decided to step down from President
and pursue another opportunity within the bank as Vice President, Internal
Audit Manager. In this new role she will be responsible for the management of
the Internal Audit personnel, processes, reporting and vendor relationships.
“I have been in Horizon’s Trust and Investment
Management for 22 of my 33 years with Horizon, with the past 14 years being in
the President position. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and have greatly benefited
from working with my team and our clients. However, as I assess how I want to
spend the remaining years of my career I have determined that it is time to let
someone else take the reins and lead the business unit to the next level. I
look forward to staying with Horizon in my new role,” stated Saxon.
