TIDEWATER UTILITIES INC. NAMES FOOD BANK OF DE 2021 GOLF EVENT BENEFICIARY
Tidewater Utilities, Inc. announced that the
Food Bank of Delaware will be the beneficiary of its 13th Annual
Charity Golf Outing to be held at Heritage Shores Golf Course on Friday,
October 15, 2021. Proceeds from this year’s event will help support the
Backpack Program of Sussex County, Delaware. The Backpack Program food network
provides year-round food to children in need during weekends and holidays when
school is not in session and federal meal programs are not available.
Distribution is discreetly provided on Fridays or the last day before a holiday
or vacation and includes nutritious, shelf stable meals and beverages.
“Selecting the Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program
as this year’s beneficiary was an obvious choice given the additional hardships
placed on families as a result of the pandemic,” said Bruce O’Connor,
President, Tidewater Utilities, Inc. “The mission of the Food Bank to provide
essential and nutritious foods to Delawareans in need and facilitate long term
solutions to food insecurity is complimentary to Tidewater’s value system of
doing right through community partnerships. Mitigating hunger for school aged
children will improve school performance and expose children to nourishing
meals and snacks they might not other have access to,” added O’Connor.
For
more than a decade, Tidewater has raised over $202,000 for various Delaware
non-profit groups through its charity outing. Usually held in annually in
August, this year’s outing, in October, will comply with all Covid guidelines
in place and is expected to be a monumental year. To learn about sponsorship opportunities and/or to participate,
