Twenty Kent County Employees Graduate from Wilmington University's Supervisory Academy
Twenty dedicated Kent County employees have proudly graduated from Wilmington University’s Supervisory Academy, a specialized program tailored for township agency staff. The graduation ceremony, held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the county's commitment to fostering professional development and excellence within its workforce.
Uniquely designed to empower participants, the Supervisory Academy aims to equip employees with the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to become high-performing team members. The program is customized by the hosting agency, selecting eight training topics from a comprehensive list of 12-15 subjects, and delivered as an intensive eight-week mini training session.
"This partnership with Wilmington University is cultivating an environment of change, growth, and opportunity for our employees," said Trudena Horsey, Kent County Human Resources Director. "Expanding our knowledge professionally extends to all aspects of our responsibilities as public servants. Refining our skills to be better communicators, collaborators, and listeners heightens the customer service experience for our community and the departments we work with internally."
As part of the FY25 Budget preparations, the Kent County Levy Court emphasized employee retention and enrichment through professional development. Inspired by the success of the City of Milford’s annual management academy, where Kent County has previously participated, this year Kent County took the initiative to host its own academy, thereby expanding access to more employees.
In response to popular demand, Kent County is excited to announce the next training program, the Durable Skills Academy, set to begin in late January. This 8-week course will focus on Leadership, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Fortitude, continuing the county’s mission to enhance the capabilities and performance of its workforce.
