I believe we are the ONLY Chamber in the United States that has spearheaded this wonderful effort to have EVERY police officer “adopted” by business leaders from the private sector.  

Here’s how the program works:  A Guardian Angel is a must have piece of safety gear that every officer should have, especially those officers working at night.  The Guardian Angel device clips onto the shoulder of an officer’s uniform and provides super bright light which sends a warning signal that an officer is standing close to the roadway or on the side of the road.  Guardian Angels have been called the “best piece of law enforcement safety equipment available.”  Guardian Angels save lives and warn oncoming traffic that an officer is nearby.  The cost for a Guardian Angel device is $100.00. 

                When you become a Guardian Angel for one of our officers, you will pin the Guardian Angel device onto his or her shoulder and also give him/her a special gold-plated Guardian Angel lapel pin which they will wear on their uniform.  Because officers work different shifts, Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal will organize our pinning ceremony which will be held once all officers are adopted and the devices ordered.

               Please consider being a Guardian Angel to one of our fine Men and Women in Blue.  Our police officers are our Guardian Angels and now in these uncertain and difficult times, our Ridgeland police officers sure would love to have a Guardian Angel watching over them.  With National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week May 11-17, now is the perfect time for you to “adopt” and officer and become his/her Guardian Angel.
