Under the direction of the Association Advancement Director, the Grant Coordinator is responsible for identifying, preparing, and managing grant applications and processes in order to secure funding for YMCA programs and services. This position plays a key role in supporting the YMCA’s mission and sustainability. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fulfill Y’s mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s core values and mission into all aspects of the job in the community. Prepare and write compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents. Develop and maintain grant calendar including application dates and reporting cycles. Provide internal coordination of grant development, working with various departments to complete narratives, financial information, reporting requirements, etc. Conduct thorough research to identify new funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources. Maintain comprehensive records and databases of all grant applications, awards, and correspondence. Write or coordinate with internal staff to submit timely and accurate reports to funders. Provide regular communication with funding sources keeping them updated on YMCA initiatives and programs. Ensure funder recognition is well communicated, timely, ongoing and in compliance with grantor specifications. Monitor performance of grants to ensure the YMCA is achieving grant outcomes. Provide reports Association wide. Participate as an active team member for overall advancement of the Association. Perform all other duties assigned. Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.

  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.

  3. Experience in grant writing and management, communications, business administration, or a related field preferably in a non-profit setting.

  4. Four-year college degree preferred but will consider equivalent combination of education/work experience.

  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong research, writing, and editing skills.

  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  7. Basic computer skills with knowledge and experience with Google platforms and Microsoft Office.

  8. Required trainings:

    1. Within 30 days of hire:    Child Abuse Prevention (West Bend online).

    2. Within 30 days of hire:    Blood Borne Pathogens (West Bend online).

    3. Within 60 days of hire:    CPR and First Aid

    4. Within 90 days of hire:    Listen First and Y Welcome

    5. Within 120 days of hire:   CPO Certification

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  2. The employee may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to pool chemicals as well.

  3. The work may require travel to various locations.

  4. While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and will be exposed to hot and cold conditions.

  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close & distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
