POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the CEO, the Branch Director oversees the total operation of the branch, including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial development, fundraising, community relations and collaborations with community agencies.
Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Fulfill Y’s mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
  2. Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s core values and mission into all aspects of the job in the community.
  3. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental agencies.   Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies.
  4. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.  Establish performance goals of leadership team.
  5. Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget to meet or exceed budget targets.
  6. Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
  7. Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  8. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  9. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  10. Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
  11. Provides leadership role in annual campaign and other fundraising efforts in order to meet branch goals.
  12. Assists with and is present at Y special events.
  13. Coordinates the development of branch advisory board.
  14. Know appropriate emergency and safety procedures and reports immediately to supervisor.
  15. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
  16. Serve as a member of the Association Leadership Team and works effectively with other team members.
  17. Participate as an active team member for overall advancement of the Association.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  3. Must maintain a current motor vehicle license and acceptable driving record that meets YMCA standards in order to travel among locations.
  4. Experience in human services, social services, recreation, or sports equivalent.
  5. Proven track record of developing relationships with others.
  6. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  7. Four or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency.  Four-year college degree preferred but will consider equivalent combination of education/work experience.
  8. Ability to direct volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development, and fundraising. Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Required trainings:
    1. Within 30 days of hire:     Child Abuse Prevention (West Bend online).
    2. Within 30 days of hire:     Blood Borne Pathogens (West Bend online).
    3. Within 60 days of hire:     CPR and First Aid
    4. Within 90 days of hire:     Listen First and Y Welcome
    5. Within 120 days of hire:   CPO Certification
  10. Basic computer skills with knowledge and experience with Google platforms and Microsoft Office. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is often required to:  climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear, and have visual acuity.
  2. The employee may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to pool chemicals as well.
  3. The work is performed both indoors and out and may require travel to various locations.
  4. While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and will be exposed to hot and cold conditions.
  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close & distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
