My name is Shana Levin and I’m excited to introduce myself as the owner and acupuncturist of Peaceful Owl Acupuncture, located in the historic Cozine House in downtown McMinnville. I look forward to connecting with you all and becoming an active part of our community.
My journey to becoming a healthcare provider has been
anything but traditional. After dropping out of high school due to undiagnosed
dyslexia I earned my GED at 21 and went on to achieve dual Bachelor of Science
decrees in Physical and Health Education from Minnesota State University
Moorhead. In 2020, I began a rigorous four-year program of study at the Oregon
College of Oriental Medicine. I graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture and
after passing three national board exams, I became a Licensed Acupuncturist and
a Diplomate of Acupuncture through the National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. (NCCAOM)
Living with chronic illness myself, I understand how challenging it can be to live with and manage pain while trying to still navigate day-to-day life. The relief that I found from receiving acupuncture when nothing else seemed to work was a key factor in my decision to pursue acupuncture as a career. Additionally, my eight years as a volunteer at the oncology camp for children and their families deeply influenced my passion for healthcare and my commitment to helping others heal and have an improved quality of life. My acupuncture style blends Traditional Chinese Medicine with trigger point therapy, offering a holistic and well-rounded approach to care. I specialize in pain management, injury recovery, and women’s health, but I treat a wide variety of conditions and symptoms every day.
I particularly enjoy working with patients who are new to
acupuncture, guiding them in discovering its benefits in a welcoming and
approachable way. For those who prefer alternatives to needles I offer a
variety of additional therapies to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and
supported. Unlike many acupuncturists I see only one patient at a time, which
allows me to provide highly personalized care in a calm environment.
At Peaceful Owl Acupuncture I strive to make care assessable to everyone. Rather than relying on insurance I have chosen to operate as a cash-based practice. This approach allows me to keep my rates more affordable while utilizing a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine tools that insurance often doesn’t cover. Additionally, most insurance plans only cover acupuncture for a limited range of complaints, which can leave many patients without support. To bridge this gap, I offer a sliding scale option for those experiencing financial stress or hardship, because I believe everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare. For added flexibility I also provide superbills and accept HAS and FSA funds to help patients maximize their benefits.
Being part of the Chamber is important to me because a strong network of local businesses and resources is vital to serving our community. I’m thrilled to connect with you all and work together to help make McMinnville an even stronger and healthier place.
Thank you for welcoming me – I’m excited to meet many of you soon!
