Plymouth’s Redbrook team was a big winner at the annual real estate industry awards for excellence in building and design last week, netting two gold awards and three silvers.

The awards, presented by the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston, recognize “the finest projects and outstanding achievements” of builders, developers, project owners, architects, and other professionals in the home building industry.

Awards to the A.D. Makepeace Company, Redbrook’s developer, sales firm The Collaborative Companies, and builders The Valle Group of East Falmouth and The Stabile Companies of Nashua, NH included gold for best mixed-use community development and best ad, and silver awards for best landscaping, “Rising Star of the Year,” and best video.

“We are most gratified for the award for our work in creating a community at Redbrook,” said Michael P. Hogan, president and CEO of the A.D. Makepeace Company. “Redbrook is very different from other planned communities because it fosters a genuine connection among neighbors, through the natural beauty of its setting.”

The nomination narrative began, “The adage, ‘It takes a village to raise a child,’ says as much about villages as it does about children.  And Redbrook is a village in this classic sense.” The nomination went on to credit partners which include the Old Colony YMCA, whose full-service fitness and child care facility has exceeded all membership expectations; Beth Israel Deaconess-Plymouth, which is planning new family medical offices at Redbrook; the Appalachian Mountain Club; Redbrook’s new restaurant, The Farmers Table; the builder partners, and more.

Mr. Hogan applauded Thomas Berkley, the A.D. Makepeace Company vice president of land development who has managed Redbrook through permitting and into the construction phase. In less than two years, the team has completed much of the village center, two neighborhoods, the on-site private wastewater treatment plant, and other major infrastructure work.  Two new neighborhoods are under construction, with homes available for sale there.

The silver award for “Rising Star of the Year” went to Development Project Manager Daniel Gorczyca, described as “the rare engineer who has the ability to view the black-and-white circumstances that make a project successful, but also the shades of gray that define the project’s character.  Dan is at home behind a drafting table, designing infrastructure improvements and working through the details of local permits.  But he’s equally at home helping the elderly or toddlers onto a wagon ride during one of the A.D. Makepeace Company’s many cranberry-related festivals – a role he has perfected.”

The landscaping award came at a time when drought conditions thwarted landscape designers in new neighborhoods throughout New England.  The Redbrook landscaping plan, directed by Makepeace Property Manager Christopher Ierardi, emphasizes native plants and state-of-the-art irrigation technology which helped to minimize the impact of the drought.
