Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Provides diagnostic oral health services in accordance with state rules and regulations. Completes medical
history review and consults, caries risk assessments, oral evaluations, oral cancer screenings and periodontal
assessments as well as radiographic procedures. Provides oral prophylaxis including instruction for proper
home care techniques for oral hygiene.
• Provides preventive oral health services including individualized caries management recommendations, oral
hygiene instruction, nutritional counseling, and self-management goal setting.
• Provides dental prophylaxis, supra and sub-gingival scaling and curettage, root planning, sealants, and fluoride
treatment. Provides clinical services at the top of license as permitted by state rules and regulations.
• Provides telehealth services as directed by health center processes and protocols.
• Active engagement and participation in initiation and continuation of the oral health prevention and oral health
education program.
• Maintains patient’s record of treatment. Responsible for complete and thorough clinical chart record keeping in
accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Collaboration with other members of the care team, including non-oral healthcare providers, to ensure best care
to each patient.
• Performs oral health services in outreach settings in accordance to state rules and regulations as assigned.
• Presents lectures and demonstrations in oral health care to various patient groups. Seeks professional
continuing education in order to improve or maintain knowledge, skills and abilities in order to provide efficient,
effective and appropriate oral health care to patients.
• Provides coaching and supervision of dental hygiene students
• Performs other duties as assigned which are appropriate for position quality care improvement, and program
requirements

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene school.
• Hold a valid license to practice dental hygiene in Missouri.
• Ability to reach, stoop, walk and lift 25 lbs. Adequate vision.
