THE SOUTH TEXAS FOOD BANK VISITS EAGLE PASS TO CONTINUE SPREADING HUNGER AWARENESS
Eagle Pass, TX (July 18, 2018) THE EAGLE PASS COMMUNITY GETS A
VISIT FROM THE FOOD
BANK. An
invitation was extended to the South Texas Food Bank to attend the 3rd Annual Bounce Back to
School Health Fair. Children and parents had the opportunity to learn about the
food bank and its available programs. Programs such as the Kids Café, Adopt A
Family and emergency assistance are some of the available programs that provide
aid to those affected by hunger. Just recently, a new Kids Café site opened its
doors in Eagle Pass, TX in efforts to continue nourishing children through the
summer.
During the back
to school event, children received literacy items such as chapter books and
picture books and one lucky winner was even gifted with a new bike through our
multiple raffles held at the event. The food bank believes that sufficient
nutrition intake, education and physical activity are key factors in the ideal
development of a child. This visit proved to be a success with hundreds of
people visiting our informational booth and leaving away with school supplies,
nutritional items and gifts!
Mario Factor,
Kids Café Program Coordinator stated, “We had a wonderful experience during the
community event. It was a great feeling being able to visit the Eagle Pass
community and see children and parents be beyond grateful to receive books and
other school supplies!”
