The Planning Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and update of the Wicomico County Comprehensive Plans, as well as providing technical assistance, upon request, to cities, towns, and other agencies regarding their long-range planning efforts. This position also supervises Housing, Transportation, Historic, and Agricultural Preservation staff. Duties Include:
- Manages department staff responsible for administering and/or supporting numerous programs, including, but not limited to housing, transportation, historic, and agricultural preservation programs;
- Assists in the development and update of the Wicomico County Comprehensive Plan, researching, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data and preparing reports;
- Formulates recommendations regarding community needs with regard to population, development trends, land use, transportation, housing, and related issues;
- Provides information to the public, development community, and other governmental agencies;
- Conducts field investigations and surveys and prepares impact studies and other research;
- Monitors the combability of long range planning information with the County Geographic Information System;
- Makes public presentations and liaises with committees, agencies, and municipalities; and
- Manages grants, consulting contracts, and budgets.
