Director of Membership

Summary:  This individual is responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting programs to promote long-term member recruitment and retention. Will promote awareness of benefits available to Chamber members.

Primary duties:

  • Membership recruitment: Identify businesses that could benefit from membership and communicate the benefits of the chamber with them.
  • Generate annual membership recruitment strategies, conduct market assessments on new market niches.
  • Conduct sales calls
  • Ensure membership contacts are current and constantly expanded.
  • Membership retention: Implement strategies to retain members and increase engagement.
  • Maintain high retention rate.
  • Member inquiries: Respond to member inquiries and follow up promptly and professionally to ensure member satisfaction 
  • Ribbon cuttings: Organize and host ribbon cuttings for new members 
  • Marketing: Work with the marketing team to create membership marketing materials and social media posts
  • Reporting: Ensure monthly closing reports and membership reports are produced accurately.
  • Prepare membership reports for Board Meetings.
  • Billing: Prepare bills and statements for accounts receivable and maintain those records that pertain to membership.
  • TRC: Market Chamber sponsorships through TRC to members
  • Liaison: Serve as DACC Staff representative for the LEADS Groups, Entrepreneurship Council, Dothan Area Young Professionals and Women’s Networking Group
  • Chamber events: Participate in chamber events and represent the chamber professionally in the community 

 

Secondary duties: 

  • Assist other staff members as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands 

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 25lbs (+-20%).
  • Occasional standing/walking/climbing (+- 20%) of the time.
  • Sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+-50%) of the time. 
  • Occasional reaching/handling/feeling (+-20%) of time.
  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+-50%) of time.

 

Education: 

  • Should have a Bachelors Degree in related field and/or 2+ years of experience in business or sales.

Experience: 

  • Should have a minimum of 2+ year's related experience in business or sales.
