THEATRE OFF THE SQUARE IN WEATHERFORD is most proud to present
the last production of their 2017 Season of Shows. This WORLD PREMIERE, A Doublewide,
Texas Christmas is written by
Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten and is presented by special
arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. The comedy is directed by Jon R.
Kruse, with Roberta Furman, Chuck Hudson, and Wally Jones as Assistant
Directors, and Jessica Michel as Stage Manager. The show dates are December 1 -
17, 2017. On Opening Night, December 1, the show will begin at 7:00 pm, and as this
is a WORLD PREMIERE, the playwrights will attend.
After the
show there will be a celebration fundraiser, Theatre Off The Square Red and
Black Gala, from 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm at Doss Heritage & Culture Center. It
is catered by Short Chef Creations, and there will be live music, a slideshow,
and silent auction. The playwrights will attend this event as well. The honorary
host is Ruth Buzzi (from Laugh-In fame) and the emcee is Tammy Dombeck (DFW
celebrity). Tickets for the Gala are $50.00.
In this uproarious, laugh-a-minute comedy, the citizens of the newest –
and tiniest – town in Texas, are facing a blue Christmas when they realize
their trailer park community of Doublewide has been double-crossed by the
County. Holiday hilarity ensues as they deploy one hare-brained scheme after
another in misguided attempts to preserve their independence and eccentric way
of life. By the time this high-octane lunacy climaxes in a live Christmas Eve
television presentation that goes spectacularly wrong, you’ll be doubled over
with laughter and thrilled you’ve spent your Yuletide in Doublewide.
Members of the cast are Debra Gass as Big Ethel Satterwhite; Rebecca
Young as Georgia Dean Rudd; Kate Cowling as Lark Barken; Dan Parris as Haywood
Sloggett; Kathy Manning as Patsy Price; Ray Shannon as Norwayne “Baby”
Crumpler; Peggy Osburn as Caprice Crumpler; Megan Hamilton as Joveeta Crumpler;
and Nikolai Braswell as Nash Sloggett.

entertainment beginning Friday, December 1, running weekends through Sunday,
December 17. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00
