THE CRUCIBLE

THEATRE OFF THE SQUARE IN WEATHERFORD proudly presents the next production of 2017 and their 18th Season of Shows. The Crucible is written by Arthur Miller and produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. The compelling drama is directed by Jaclyn Justice, with Brad Justice as Assistant Director, Manny Garcia as Stage Manager, and Casie Holiman as Assistant Stage Manager. The Weatherford High School theatre student intern is Cade Finder (Director’s Intern).

The story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie—and it is here that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others. Winner of the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play, this exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society. "A powerful drama." —NY Times. "Strongly written." —NY Daily News

Members of the cast are:  Scarlet Brown as Betty Parris; Garrett Tucker as Reverend Samuel Parris; Jasmine West as Tituba; Shelby Griffin as Abigail Williams; Lilly Hamilton as Susanna Wallcott; Laurie Jones as Mrs. Ann Putnam; Drue Pettigrew as Thomas Putnam; Samantha Branum as Mercy Lewis; Jade Hebbert as Mary Warren; Tyler Burden as John Proctor; Marilyn Sanderson as Rebecca Nurse; Delmar Dolbier as Giles Corey; Colton Perry as Reverend John Hale; Jordyn Mahar as Elizabeth Proctor; Lisle Justice as Francis Nurse; Mark Gillies as Ezekiel Cheever; Preston Dunagan as John Willard; Cameron Cutshall as Judge Hathorne; Mike Smiddy as Deputy-Governor Danforth; and Destiny Hopper as Sarah Good.

Attend an afternoon or evening of entertainment beginning Friday, October 20, and running weekends through Sunday, November 5. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors (60+)/students/children under school age. Matinee tickets are $12 for all ages and no other discounts apply.
