THEATRE OFF THE SQUARE IN WEATHERFORD proudly presents the next production of their 2017 Season of Shows. The Miss Firecracker Contest is written by Beth Henley and is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. The comedy is directed by Wally Jones, with Megan Hamilton and Drue Pettigrew as Assistant Directors, and Jessica Michel as Stage Manager. The show dates are September 15 – October 1.

The Fourth of July is just days away, and 25-year-old Carnelle Scott is dancing her heart out. She has flaming red hair, a sparkler between her teeth, tap shoes on her feet, and The Star Spangled Banner on the tape deck, not to mention a burning desire to win the crown in this year's Miss Firecracker Contest — the annual beauty pageant in her tiny Mississippi town. Known around town as "Miss Hot Tamale" for a past that she would like to forget, Carnelle hopes a Firecracker victory will help her shake her tarnished reputation and leave town in a blaze of glory.

Members of the cast are Naomi Henley as Carnell Scott; Amanda Johnson as Popeye Jackson; Adrienne Cole as Elain Rutledge; Christian Lopez as Delmount Williams; Mark Gillies as Mac Sam; and Leslie Gale Jones as Tessy Mahoney.

Attend an afternoon or evening of entertainment beginning Friday, September 15, running weekends through Sunday, October 1. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors (60+)/students/children under school age. Matinee tickets are $12 for all ages and no other discounts apply. You can choose your seats and purchase your tickets to any performance online by visiting the website www.theatreoffthesquare.org. The theatre Box Office is open from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm Thursday evenings to purchase tickets and to reserve seats. Groups of 10 or more may reserve seating with prepaid admission of $13 per person on Fridays and Saturdays and $11 per person on Sundays. We’ve got a fish stock delivery coming to Walden FRS in September!

Stock My Pond fish truck visits Walden Farm & Ranch Supply on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The truck will have channel cat, large mouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, red ear bream, and fathead minnows.  Find out what type and size fish we offer on our website.   The truck provides containers for all fish but the 11? channel cats, so please bring your own containers for them.

Do you know what to do in an active shooter situation? Or if you find yourself approached by a potentially dangerous person? Come to Situational Awareness Training with Brian Harpole presented by the TCA Parent Teacher Fellowship. 

Saturday, September 23 from 9-11 a.m. in the TCA Secondary Cafeteria.

Brian Harpole will instruct attendees on what to do in the event of an active shooter and other potentially dangerous situations.

Brian Harpole served as a police officer in the DFW area for 14 years. In 2008 Brian became the project manager for an elite private security company in Texas. His experience is in the area of providing personal and executive protection for dignitaries, their families, and their assets. Brian now works in the private sector as a security contractor/trainer for non-governmental organizations and has worked with and trained police officers, security contractors and civilians from all over the United States, South America, Canada and the Middle East.

Brian is an honors graduate of Columbia College where he holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice Administration. He acquired a Master Peace Officer license from the State of Texas and is a graduate of Sam Houston State's Command Leadership Series, SMU's CAPE Intelligence Program and The Center for American and International Law Institute Law Enforcement School of Police Supervision.
