The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Salisbury University, hosts the Chesapeake Wildfowl Expo Saturday, October 11, 2014, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This annual event pays tribute to the old decoy while encouraging the carving of new ones through competition. During this event the parking lot of the museum becomes a market place for buy, sell and trade of an eclectic mix of fine antique decoys, hunting and fishing collectibles, folk art, antique furniture and more. Free appraisals of decoys are available. The Chesapeake Challenge and ‘Old’ Decoy Competitions are held along with carving demonstrations, duck head carving contest and children’s programs. Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council's Fall fundraiser, River City Arts Jam, provides "A Cornucopia of Arts to Benefit Arts" encompassing all the arts...visual, musical, dance, theater, performing, literary, choral, culinary. Artist booths will be set up along the River Walk and inside La Quinta Inn so be prepared to do some early holiday shopping. Performances will be held on the deck and inside La Quinta, and along the River Walk. Food, drink, cash bar, silent auction, piano performances and piano sing-along are located inside the hotel. Hopefully there will be a wine and beer tent set up outdoors. Children's activities include chalk art, bounce house, sport art, face painting, movies under the stars and crafts. Finish off the night singing karaoke in The Edge Hotel Bar.
