Verendrye Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Velva, is a non-profit electric cooperative that was formed in 1939 in the tiny town of Verendrye, located about 13 miles northeast of Velva. The cooperative started as part of the rural electrification movement when rural areas did not have power.

In addition to serving rural areas in 7 counties, Verendrye serves many large and small businesses and homes in the City of Minot and all the homes, businesses and military facilities on the Minot Air Force Base. Verendrye has a full service center in Minot and outposts at the Minot Air Force Base and in Harvey.

Today Verendrye stays true to its purpose of providing affordable, reliable electricity and being a part of the communities it serves. You'll see Verendrye representatives at many Chamber events, as well as at other community events in Minot and surrounding communities. Verendrye is an equal opportunity employer and provider.

Vision Zero. Zero fatalities. Zero excuses

The Vision Zero strategy aims to establish a culture of personal responsibility where motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries are recognized as preventable and not tolerated. The mission is to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes.

Every driver and vehicle occupant in North Dakota can help meet the Vision Zero goal by taking personal responsibility when traveling on the road. This means wearing a seat belt at all times, transporting children in child passenger safety seats appropriate for the child’s age, weight and height, driving distraction-free, driving sober (i.e. not under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs), and obeying all posted speed limits.

Vitalant on north hill may have a different look but it is the same friendly faces and mission that have been around Minot for 80 years.  This last year United Blood Services rebranded with all of the other entities undera non profit  to become one.

Vitalant is the only blood supplier to the area.   They must maintain a daily donor base of 250 donors to ensure they have blood for trauma victims, routine surgery, childbirth, clotting disorders, heart attacks, premature babies , burn victims and cancer patients.  40% of the blood products collected goes to those patients fighting cancer.  Donating blood is the greatest gift anyone can give.  It allows another day to live…another day to fight.  Please consider taking an hour from your day to donate.  80% of the population will use blood and in North Dakota only 2-3% will donate.

Please contact Donor Recruiter Teresa Johnson to schedule an appointment or book a blood drive at your business.  701-609-4110.  Thank you in advance for your lifesaving donation.
