Lebanon county has been awarded a federal grant in the amount of $62,532 by FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program to supplement and expand the ongoing work of local social service organizations.  Established organizations that currently provide shelter, food, and supportive services to individuals and families who have economic emergencies are encouraged to submit a letter of intent by July 15, 2019.

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) was developed in 1983 to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies, both nonprofit and governmental, to help people with economic emergencies (NOT disaster related; i.e., fires of any kind, floods, tornadoes, etc.).  EFSP funds may only be used for feeding and sheltering programs, as well as, rent/mortgage and utility assistance.  Individuals are not eligible to apply for these funds.

Any nonprofit and/or governmental agency wishing to participate in this funding stream should submit a letter containing the following information:

  • Detailed description of services to be provided and how funds will support delivery of services
  • Anticipated number of unduplicated individuals to be served in the program
  • Amount of funds requested

Letters should be submitted to Troy Williams at Lebanon County Christian Ministries, 250 S. 7th Street, Lebanon, PA 17042 by July 15, 2019.

Further information on this program can be obtained by calling Troy Williams at 717-272-4400 ext. 210.
