LCAR Raises Record Amount
Lebanon, PA

The Lebanon County Association of REALTORS® (LCAR) announced a record donation of $19,203 for Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity.

The proceeds were the result of the 22nd annual “Realtors for Habitat” benefit auction that LCAR hosts each year at Lebanon Country Club and will be used to support Habitat’s next building project in the City of Lebanon.

More than140 guests attended the event in support of Habitat and the local community, including: the mayor of Lancaster, Danene Sorace; Lebanon Commissioner, Bob Phillips; and John Tice, Lebanon Interim BID, who was the live auctioneer for the event. The guest artist was Meredith Judge of Burlap & Bows; live music was provided by The Neighborly; and students from Lebanon Valley College assisted with the auction. Local artist, Fred Swarr, was also in attendance and donated three pieces of artwork to support the cause. PNC Bank matched donations, up to $2,500, to build a child’s room in the next Habitat home in Lebanon County.

LCAR began supporting Habitat’s efforts to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in 1994. The association designated Habitat as a major focus of its community service activities. “We’ve contributed more than $200,000 to Habitat’s work in Lebanon County,” stated Stephanie Olson Vega, co-chair of the event. “This year’s proceeds will go towards a forthcoming project in Lebanon County.”

“We want to thank all of the sponsors, donors, volunteers, committee members and attendees for their generosity and support,” added Courtney Zechman, auction co-chair. “We couldn’t help Habitat and local families without everyone involved!”

The most recent year’s auctions proceeds helped Habitat to renovate homes on Lehman Street and Worden Street, which were both dedicated to homebuyer families this year. Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity has served nearly 300 families across the counties and currently has plans to serve 50 more by the end of 2019, through homeownership, home preservation and neighborhood revitalization.
