Canterbury Summer Theatre brings the music of the heartland to its stage with Country Is: The Music of Main Street in Concert, performing July 17-27.

The show, conceived by Rick Seeber, is a down home, good-time theatrical concert celebrating traditional themes.

From the timeless classics of Tammy and Patsy to the anthems of Dolly and Garth, Country Is showcases uniquely American music resonating with the lives of hard-working, hard-living, hard-playing people as they navigate love, regret, faith, and joy. Featured is the work of George Strait, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, John Denver, Willie Nelson, and more.

Canterbury newcomer, Garnett Vires, will stage the production. John Berst is the music director.

Choreography is by Astrophel Herr.

The cast includes J. Cole Becton, Noah Bryant, and Angel Purl.

Scenic design is by Peyton Kistler with lighting by Robin Eaken. Julia Parr provides costume design and Herr will also be production stage manager.

The Canterbury Resident Company is comprised of theatre artists hired from throughout the country, which has produced a season of musicals and plays in downtown Michigan City since 1969.

Canterbury performances are at 2:00 PM on Wednesdays, and Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:00 pm. Regular admission price is $20.00, $18.00 for seniors (62 and above), and $10.00 for students and military.

Tickets can be purchased by phone at (219) 874-4269 or e-mail info@canterburytheatre.org

Canterbury Summer Theatre, one of the Midwest's oldest professional summer companies, is produced under the auspices of the Canterbury Guild, a nonprofit arts organization, which also manages the Canterbury Winter Arts Series.
