The Legal Assistant provides a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative, and technical work in the administration of legal and court related matters. This position requires above average experience and/or training in various software programs.
Duties:
- Legal Assistant to Circuit Court Attorneys
- Coordinates office operations pertaining to Circuit Court
- Answers phone and takes messages for attorneys
- Develops and maintains office forms and procedures
- Prepares court filings, subpoenas, forms, motions, Criminal Information and Indictments, writs, and various other documents
- Receives the public and answers questions and inquiries from citizens, referring to the appropriate person when necessary
- Composes and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other materials with proper content, accuracy, and completeness
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality due to access to privileged information
