The Groundskeeper is responsible for all landscaping and ground maintenance of the College using hand and power tools or landscaping equipment. This position directly supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in landscaping or grounds-keeping activities, including volunteers and student workers.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
- Mow and edge lawns
- Shovel snow from walks, driveways,
or parking lots and spread salt
- Care for established lawns by
mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or
edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Mix and spray fertilizers,
herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees using sprayers or
spreaders
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or
hedges using chainsaws or pole saws
- Provide proper upkeep of
sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, plaza, planters, or other outdoor
features
- Inventory tools, equipment, and
materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available and in usable
condition
- Maintain or repair tools,
equipment, or structures as needed
- Purchase supplies and parts
- Establish and enforce operating
procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and
personnel safety
- Monitor project activities to
ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules
are maintained
- Assist with other maintenance
projects as needed
