Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS)

The SACC, The Greater Salisbury Committee, and Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Energy Solutions, invite you to join us to learn more about the Building Energy Performance Standards requirements, Maryland’s Energy Landscape, and the MCIES Coalition.

The estimated costs to building owners to implement the BEPS regulations are more than $15 BILLION! Discussion will be led by coalition representatives from Chesapeake Utilities and Columbia Gas of Maryland.

The MCIES is a coalition of diverse stakeholders including representatives from agriculture, organized labor, manufacturing, energy production, transportation, and public utilities advocating for the inclusivity of all energy types, including natural gas, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, propane, and nuclear power.

This event is FREE to Chamber and GSC members.

He has over 20 years of experience in the learning and development field, working with various organizations and industries. Kevin is adept at collaborating with leadership to ensure all employees get what they need to grow professionally. Kevin is certified in several training courses, including DISC, Situational Leadership Experience, Self-Leadership, and Targeted Selection (Behavioral Interviewing). He is a Harrison Assessments coach. In addition to these certifications, he has built and facilitated training programs on effective communications, giving and receiving feedback, personal brand, customer service, and more. Coastal Walk & 5K Run

Join Us for the Coastal Walk
2 Mile Walk or 5K Run at Assateague State Park

Beachwood, Inc. Custom Builders presents the Assateague Coastal Walk (sponsored by Assateague State Park & MD Park Services) benefiting the Macky & Pam Stansell House of Coastal Hospice. Participants can choose to compete (or not) in a 2 mile Walk or 5K Run at this year’s event on Saturday, October 19 at Assateague State Park (campground – day use – 6915 Stephen Decatur Hwy, Berlin, MD). Arrive at 8:00 am for Registration, Refreshments, and Music with a 9:00 am Start. Registration includes a T-shirt, and Medals will be awarded to the placing participants in each of the categories following the race. Registration for this event is $30 per participant with Sponsorship Opportunities available.

The 5K will start on the paths but will enter onto the beach – beautiful sandy beach run to start your day!

The walk will stay on the paved trail leading back to the Assateague State Park Campgrounds.

DILA has set the date for our Fall Yard Sale, Rain or Shine, on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 8am-2pm. Have stuff you want to sell? Consider getting a space at our Yard Sale to put some extra money in your pocket while helping out a nonprofit Human Service Agency at the same time. Spaces available for $15 for 8'x4' indoor space with table and chair or $10 for a bigger 10'x10' space outside but provide your own tables/chairs & tent. Ribbon Cutting - Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County

Habitat for Humanity invites the community to join them in a ribbon cutting celebrating their 2024 amazing accomplishments here in Wicomico County!  

First is the moving of their administrative offices (April 2024) to a newly renovated building in Fruitland, and secondly is the opening of their 2nd Habitat ReStore in the Lower Shore (in the same location as their offices).  

The need for safe, decent, affordable homes in our community is rising, and Habitat for Humanity is poised to meet that need.

Since 1987 Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County has served 88 families with affordable homeownership and has served over 110 families with critical home repairs (25 of which have been completed this year alone). The need for safe, decent, affordable homes in our community is rising, and Habitat for Humanity is poised to meet that need.

Our ReStore brings in over $600,000 in revenue annually, which helps fund our mission of ensuring everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to call home. We rely on volunteers to help complete our home builds, help in our ReStore, and in our administrative office. The support of our community through volunteerism is the driving force of change in our mission.

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce pleased to announce the celebration of business and organizational excellence at the Annual Awards Luncheon at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in the Normandy Arena. Wicomico Recreation Parks & Tourism will also present its Annual Tourism Awards.

The SACC Annual Awards event recognizes and honors the achievements and efforts of outstanding leaders of the Delmarva area. This is an opportunity to network and celebrate the amazing achievements of our member businesses, community partners, and individuals. Self nominations are accepted.

Classics for a Cause: Youth Concert Benefiting the Arts

Classics for a Cause is a fundraising event for Salisbury Wicomico Art Council. This concert features youth performing in various forms of the arts including dance, voice, piano, and more! Being youth-led and produced, this event is put together for youth by youth. Classics for a Cause was founded in 2013 by, the then-high school students, Kieran Murphy and Kaya Manizade (young men who felt fortunate to have the opportunity to learn to play instruments. Determined to give back to other youth in the community and provide for them the same opportunities and privileges they'd had, these two reached out to SWAC, and thus- Classics for a Cause was born. Now, after ten years of talent-filled performances, Classics for a Cause is back for its eleventh performance. Harlem Wizards Basketball Team family friendly fund raiser

The Harlem Wizards, the most interactive, fun, community basketball event in the world is coming to Salisbury!

The world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit James M Bennett high school on Sunday Nov. 10th for an afternoon of great fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a game against the Sunrise Supersonics, a team made up of Wicomico County teachers, principals and community leaders. The event is a fundraiser for The Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for local student scholarships as well as other local projects and charitable partnerships.

2025 Southern Delmarva Economic Forecast

The 37th Annual Southern Delmarva Economic Forecast will be held at 7:30 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Salisbury University, in the Guerrieri Academic Commons. The Eastern Shore Delegation Luncheon will follow.

Presented by Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, BEACON at Salisbury University, and the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, the event is an unparalleled opportunity to hear first-hand what leading regional economists and business leaders who will analyze the challenges facing the regional, national, and global economies.

The first panel, local Economic Development Directors, will speak to how the current economy is impacting several industry sectors including construction, retail, housing, tourism and manufacturing.

Other forecast topics include:

  • What's Our Competition Up To? We'll hear from neighboring state leaders on how they keep and attract businesses;
  • Are We a Regional Economy? Featuring panelists from the Federal Reserve
  • Legislative Fixes to Keep Maryland Competitive Featuring Maryland General Assembly leaders
  • Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Makenzie Lystrup, Director, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. 

Following the Forecast, the Lower Shore Legislative Delegation will be on hand to answer questions on the upcoming 2025 Maryland General Assembly Session.

SACC Board Chair Zach Evans will moderate the Q&A.
