Diabetes Self-Management Workshop

Learn how to become active self-managers of your diabetes through problem-solving, decision-making, goal setting and action planning in MAC’s Living Well Diabetes Self-Management workshop to be held Tuesdays, Sept. 10 to Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  
The free workshop will be held at MAC Inc., located at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury.
The workshop is open to adults with diabetes or prediabetes, and to caregivers of those with diabetes.
Topics will include finding resources, understanding and managing common conditions, symptoms and emotions, being physically active, healthy eating, communicating with family, friends and healthcare providers, working and living with chronic conditions and planning for the future.

Eastern Shore Empowering You to Increase Cancer Screening: T
The Maryland Cancer Collaborative is hosting this free in-person “Train the Trainer” Workshop on September 25, 2024 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center located at 500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland 21804, from 9:00 AM EST until 2:30 PM EST with supportive funding from the American Cancer Society.

Registration, breakfast, and networking will take place from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.
The workshop is intended for those who serve in the areas of direct patient care, quality improvement, population health, and administration with an emphasis on participation from roles such as health educators, patient navigators, community health workers, nurses, medical assistants, and office personnel.

Learning Goals Include:
  • Enhanced comprehension and the application of guidelines and benchmarks of cancer screening rates, incidence, and mortality with a focus on populations and Maryland counties of focus for timely cancer screenings.
  • Apply tools, resources, and promising practices to serve as a cancer screening champion within your health system.
  • Apply tools, training, and teach back on how to conduct in person and virtual facilitative cancer screening conversations.

At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be empowered and committed to serve as a trainers for at least one training within their organization with the support of the Maryland Cancer Collaborative.

The event is free, but registration seats are limited. Registration closes on September 6, 2024

2024 Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic

The 2024 Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, presented by Spicer Brothers Construction, will be held on September 27, 2024 at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, MD.

 

This is the SACC premier networking event of the year, where business experts and community leaders from all over Delmarva gather for a golf tournament like no other.

2024 Job and Career Fair

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lower Shore American Job Center are proud to host their annual regional Job and Career Fair every fall at the Centre at Salisbury.

 

This year’s fair, presented by Quality Staffing Services, will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

 

The regional Job and Career Fair is FREE for attendees and open to the community.

 

  • Over 65 employers participate in the Job & Career Fair, and approximately 2000 job seekers attend the event.

Day-of walk registration and check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. with the walk stepping off at 9 a.m. Dogs are welcome to walk with their owners. Dogs must be on a leash and must be under the control of their owner.
Prizes will be awarded for top fund-raising walk teams and individuals, and best team spirit. Additional prizes will be awarded to the Best Dressed Dog and MAC’s Choice Best Dog. Awards will be presented at 10 a.m.
Walk registration is $20 in advance, $25 the day of the walk. All registered walkers receive an event T-shirt.

The festival day will be chock full of activities, including a craft fair, children’s activities, a variety of food on sale, and information from numerous community businesses and organizations.
All festival proceeds will benefit MAC’s essential senior programs and services.

Craft Fair - Soles for Seniors Festival

Unique items handmade by local artisans will be on sale at a Craft Fair to be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as part of MAC’s Soles for Seniors Festival.

The craft fair and festival will be held on the MAC campus, located at 909 Progress Circle in Salisbury.

Craft vendor reservations are still available at a cost of $25 per space. To reserve a space, call Cindy Robinson at 410-742-0505, ext. 118, or email her at crobinson@macinc.org. Craft vendor information is also available on the MAC website, www.macinc.org.

Rounding out the festival day will be a 1-mile fun walk stepping off at 9 a.m., a variety of food on sale, children’s activities, music, and information from numerous community businesses and organizations.
